Hiring from us
How long does the hire last?
A standard quote covers a single-day event unless we agree otherwise up front. Running something longer? Say so when you enquire and we’ll price the whole run rather than charging you day by day.
When do I receive the equipment?
A couple of days before your event, deliberately. That gives you time to open the case, connect your music, and have a proper play — and time to call us if anything puzzles you, while it still doesn’t matter.
How do I return the equipment?
Easily. There’s a return courier label already in the box: stick it on the case and we arrange collection the next working day after your event. That’s the entire return process.
How do I pay?
A 20% deposit secures your booking, with the balance due 14 days before your event. We take Visa and Mastercard.
What is the service area?
We hire to most places across Australia. Deliveries are pre-arranged by courier to an occupied address — get in touch with your postcode and we’ll confirm delivery times and pricing.
What happens if headphones are lost, damaged or stolen?
There’s a standard $85 fee for any headphone that comes back damaged or doesn’t come back at all, plus the cost of any other missing equipment. Look after them and it never comes up.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can — we do book out, particularly in peak season. Two weeks’ notice is the practical minimum, but earlier is always better. If your date is tight, call us anyway; we’ll tell you straight away whether we can cover it.
What happens if my event is cancelled?
Deposits are refundable up to 14 days before your event. After that the gear has been set aside and the balance is due, so let us know as early as you can if plans change.
Is there a minimum number of headphones?
No minimum. Two headphones or two hundred — tell us the group size and we’ll quote it.
Will you match a cheaper quote?
We’ll beat it. Send us a written quote from another Australian supplier for comparative equipment and dates, and we’ll come back 5% under it. No haggling and no meeting in the middle — just a better number than the one you’re holding.
Is the hire equipment insured?
No. Hired equipment is not insured by us, so while it’s in your care it’s your responsibility. If your venue or event already carries public liability or equipment cover, it’s worth checking whether hired gear is included.
Do you run the event for us?
No — we’re a dry hire supplier, and that’s a deliberate choice. Because we’re not out running events, our whole attention goes into the equipment: that it’s charged, that it’s clean, that it works the moment you open the case.
The equipment
Which headphones do you offer?
Two styles. Pro Gen are our compact, comfortable 2-channel headphones — the workhorse for conferences, classrooms, translation, yoga and safety inductions. Glow LED run 4 channels of 3D sound with a big glowing channel indicator, easy-clean surfaces and far less hair-tangling than most, which makes them the pick for parties and karaoke. Both hire and sell.
Can I connect my phone, laptop or DJ mixer?
Almost certainly. Phones, tablets and laptops connect by 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C or Lightning, and a TV, stereo, audio desk or DJ mixer connects by 3.5mm or RCA. We can include the right cable for your device, so your playlist app works as easily as professional gear.
How long do the batteries last, and how long do they take to charge?
Both Pro-Gen and LED headphones are rechargeable. They arrive fully charged and run around 8 hours — comfortably longer than most events. Hiring for more than one day? Chargers are included at no extra cost, and a completely flat headphone takes 3–4 hours to recharge.
Can the instructor, guide or DJ talk over the music?
Yes, and this is the bit people fall in love with. Our microphone transmitter mixes your voice into the music automatically — no mixer, nothing to patch together. It sits in the palm of your hand, plays music from your phone, and lets you speak over the top at the same time. Works with both Pro-Gen and Glow LED headphones, and we’ll quote the microphone transmitters in with either style if you need them.
How many channels do the systems run?
Pro Gen runs 2 channels; Glow LED runs 4. Every channel runs at the same time, which is more useful than it sounds — you can take one class outdoors and split it: advanced on channel one, beginners on channel two, in the same space, neither group hearing the other. Same trick for two languages on a tour, competing DJs at a party, or music on one channel and narration on the other.
How far do the transmitters reach?
It depends which headphone. Pro-Gen reaches up to 30 metres, which comfortably covers a studio, a hall, a classroom or a tour group moving together. Glow LED reaches up to 100 metres, so it suits a big dancefloor, a festival site or a group spread across a park. Either way the transmitters are rechargeable and pocket-sized, so on a walking tour the range simply travels with you.
Can I add more headphones later?
Yes, and it's worth knowing before you buy. Every Pro-Gen headphone works with every Pro-Gen transmitter, so you can add a 10-pack to an existing system any time your groups outgrow it. Nothing you buy today becomes obsolete.
What warranty comes with the headphones?
Twelve months, replacement. If a headphone fails in normal use inside the first year we replace it. It does not cover accidental damage — drops, water, someone standing on one — which is the same line every manufacturer draws. Nothing in that limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
What’s the difference between Pro-Gen and LED headphones, and how do I know which to choose?
Pro-Gen run 2 channels with a small LED channel indicator, and they’re the compact option — three fold flat into the space one LED headphone takes up, and they weigh a fraction of it. That makes them the pick for training, classrooms, tours, translation and anywhere you’re carrying them between sites. Glow LED run up to 4 channels with a large illuminated indicator on each side, so guests can see at a glance which channel they’re on across a dark dancefloor — the party option. Both have the same sound quality, and on both every listener sets their own volume.
Buying
Can I buy the system instead of hiring it?
Absolutely. Silent Safaris™ is our own design, licensed exclusively to us worldwide for over ten years and improved the whole time. If you’re running sessions regularly, ask us to quote both ways — we’ll tell you honestly where the crossover sits.
Can I try before I commit?
Yes. We offer a sample of each headphone style, and a hire-before-you-buy option — so you can put them on real heads in your real venue before spending a cent on a full kit.
Do you handle large or custom orders?
We do. Large orders of Silent Safaris Pro Gen or LED headphones are quoted individually — tell us the numbers and what you’re running, and we’ll put a package together.
Do the prices include GST?
Yes. Every price shown on this website includes GST, so the figure you see is the figure you pay. A tax invoice comes with your order.
